TWO brothers from Sandiway stole hearts at the Cheshire Show livestock ring as they kept up their proud family farming tradition.
Charlie Stewart, aged 7, and George Stewart, who is 4, performed in the under 10s calf and handling classes on Tuesday, June 17, with Holstein Fresians, Ruby One and Ruby Two, and Starlight, a beautiful pedigree Jersey.
The cows belong to their grandmother and uncle, Trish and Edward Bate, who have a herd of around 260 Holstein Friesians and Jerseys at Heath Farm in Budworth Heath.
Farming is very much in the boy's blood. As well as the family farm, their other uncle, Sam Bate, runs a local agricultural consultancy, Bate Rural.
Mum, Emma Stewart, who grew up on Heath Farm, said: “Farming is very much a family affair for us.
"The boys had a great day showing and are looking forward to more events over the summer holidays.

“This is their second year showing and they are enjoying every minute.
“George isn’t even at school yet, but he did amazingly well.
“Charlie took the cows in the grand parade, all by himself.

“We’re encouraging them both as much as we can.”
Heath Farm’s mixture of Friesians and Jerseys maximises its milk yield while also promoting the butter fats in their products.
Emma added: “Jerseys are quite mardy as a rule, but Starlight is totally soft.”
