NORTHWICH has been named among the top-rated filming locations in the UK.
Research released this week has shown the town is in the top 10 on a list of top-rated filming locations in the UK.
The list uses ratings taken from two of the biggest critic websites in the world – IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes – as well as annual searches and to reveal some of the country's best places to film.
Northwich's IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes scores, plus 834,000 annual searches and an average three-star hotel price of £89, leave it with a TV show tourism score of 8.53, placing sixth.
Peaky Blinders and, more recently, Netflix series Fool Me Once were also filmed here at the famous Arley Hall.
Dudley, in the West Midlands near Birmingham is first with Dunstable, in Bedfordshire, in second place, according to research from TV and entertainment experts OLBG.
Ellesmere Port also features on the list with its IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes scores and annual searches contributing to a show tourism rating of 8.75, placing third.
The National Waterways Museum has featured in Peaky Blinders and will also play a role in the upcoming Netflix drama, House of Guinness.
Dudley was crowned the TV show capital of the UK, scoring 9.42 out of 10.
Located in the West Midlands, the market town of Dudley has been a popular setting for a host of TV shows over the years, including Dancing on the Edge and Peaky Blinders. Dudley scored well across the board, with the town having the second-highest Rotten Tomatoes audience score for shows filmed in the area, at 94 per cent.
