A MOULTON woman who punched a police officer ‘multiple times in the head’ will be sentenced next month.
Lucy Cleary, of Britten Crescent, pleaded guilty to three charges at Chester Magistrates Court on Friday, June 13.
The 28-year-old has admitted criminal damage under £5,000, assaulting an emergency worker by beating and common assault.
The charges relate to an incident at the Penny Black pub in Northwich on April 14 this year when she was removed from the premises for an altercation with members of staff.
Prosecutor Annika Livermore told the court that Cleary returned to the pub despite being kicked out and continued with the altercation.
She threw glasses in the pub and then pushed away the manager before police were called.
Magistrates were told PC Robyn Lowe attended the scene and was obstructed by Cleary in her attempts to arrest her.
The defendant ran off and PC Lowe chased her in order to carry out an arrest for assaulting an emergency worker.
When she caught her, according to Ms Livermore, Cleary then punched the officer ‘multiple times’ to the head, causing a lump to form.
Ms Livermore added that when she was arrested, Cleary said ‘mate she [PC Lowe] deserved the punch in the face and yeah that’s a significant comment'.
She later said: “I hope that 'bizzie' got a good punch because she deserved it.”
In her mitigation, a solicitor said that the assault on Mr Hulme was ‘a push that left him unbalanced’ and that ‘nowhere in his statement does it say she threw glasses at him’.
However, he requested a pre-sentence report be carried out for Cleary who will return to court on July 14 to be sentenced.
She was given conditional bail and told not to contact Mr Hulme or enter the Penny Black pub.
