A WINNINGTON dog trainer is giving back to the community by launching a free fun dog day event to raise funds for charity.

Josh Wilkinson, the founder of the Canine Consultant, has organised the event to raise funds for the Manchester and Cheshire Dogs Home charity.

In hopes of raising £1,000, the family-friendly Fun Dog Day event is packed with activities and entertainment with dog shows, family fun prizes, pet supplies, entertainment and much more.

The cash-only event will take place from 10.30am to 2.30pm on Saturday, June 7, starting at at Mobberley Dog Park in Hobcroft Lane.

Josh said: “With Canine Consultant, it’s about giving something back to the local community more than anything, and any money that we can raise is beneficial.

“Last week, we donated 320kg of food and treats, and we are looking to also raise awareness for small businesses by having just shy of 20 different dog stalls.

“I just want to raise as much awareness and create Manchester and Cheshire Dogs Home enough money to buy food and supplies.

“At the same time, I want to help local businesses get their names out there a little bit."

The 31-year-old also owns a brokerage, but Canine Consultant is a business which came from Josh's passion and love for dogs.

The business offers a range of sessions from inclusive training, one-to-ones and for puppies aged up to 12 months.

“It's a passion of mine," Josh added. "We have created a community, and it's really good.

"We should all be promoting other dog trainers and creating a community.

“And for this event, I’ve tried to be inclusive for everybody as I possibly can."

Anyone can come along to the event for free, with donations being welcome.
