Search the Public Notice PortalA HOLIDAY park in Pickmere which has to transport mobile homes on special lorries though a housing estate is planning to build a whole new entrance.
Pickmere Lake Country and Leisure Park’s only access is on Clover Drive, a residential cul-de-sac in the southwest of the village.
When new holiday homes have to be delivered, large HGVs have to negotiate the winding 5.5m carriageway, which is often lined with parked cars.
The park’s owner has now applied for planning permission to build a new dedicated vehicle entrance and access road, complete with an avenue of trees, off Pickmere Lane.
The road would cross farmland already owned by the applicant, who also proposes to plant new hedgerows and a woodland.
As well as allowing easy access for mobile home transporters, the applicant believes it would provide ‘significant benefit by diverting traffic away from the residential road as a means of access to the holiday park’.
The planning statement, available on Cheshire East’s planning portal, states: “The proposal comprises a new vehicular entrance off Pickmere Road with electric gates, signage, and the provision of a new access track to the holiday park.
“This will result in improved amenity benefits for local residents, operational benefits for the applicant, and improved highway safety.
“Other benefits include the provision of new woodland areas, retention of and additional tree planting and hedgerows, and a new wildflower area and sustainable drainage systems, enhancing biodiversity.
“The proposal would provide a formal entrance to the holiday park with feature entrance signs, corten-in walls, and planting.
“All existing trees within the plot of land off Pickmere Road would be retained.
“The track would be of a suitable width to accommodate mobile homes and transporters for mobile homes, avoiding the need for traffic to navigate the existing roads within the housing estate.
“The access would be 5.5m wide and the track 4.8m in width to allow access by visitors to the holiday park, for cars with caravans, and the occasional larger vehicle used to transport caravans.
“The new access track would remove existing traffic to the leisure park from the estate road, retaining the existing access as an emergency route only.”
