A PRIMARY school is celebrating its success at an annual cross country running event.

The 'Smile for a Mile' event, in which multiple schools take part, took place at the County High School, Leftwich, on Wednesday, May 7.

Three races were held on the day for the different age groups, but it was Antrobus St Mark's CE Primary School which came out on top in each one.

Executive head teacher Rhian Perry was thrilled with the achievements of the participating pupils, from years one to six.

She added: "I could not be prouder of all 26 pupils who took part in the event.

"To see so many families turn up to spectate from the sides was such a joy to see and truly showed the love and support we all have for each other here at Antrobus.

"To be able to come away with a first place in all three age range races was the absolute cherry on the top for us."

Alongside Miss Perry and parents, the Antrobus pupils were supported by the school's PE lead Rachel Almond and PGCE student Sam Hudson.
