A Moulton woman is not allowed back behind the wheel for more than a year after drug-driving on a road through the village.

Abby Wright, of Holst Gardens, had a component of cannabis in her system while driving an Audi A1 in Jack Lane on November 25 last year.

Wright had 8.8 microgrammes of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol per litre of blood exceeding the legal limit of two microgrammes per litre of blood.

In the UK there is a zero-tolerance approach to the offence although there is a legal limit to allow for accidental exposure.

Wright pleaded guilty to the offence, as well as two other offences of driving without a licence and driving without insurance, at Crewe Magistrates Court on January 29.

After pleading guilty she received a ban of 16 months and a fine of £120.

She must pay £180 in court costs leaving her with a total bill of £300.
