AN awarding-winning theatre company is kicking off its 2025 season with a timeless Broadway musical classic.

Member of the Kingsley Players are joining forces with talented youngsters from its very own youth section for their upcoming production of the Annie, which runs Wednesday to Saturday, February 5 to 8, at the town’s theatre.

Based on a newspaper comic strip character, Little Orphan Annie, it is a heart-warming tale of a baby girl left on the doorstep of a New York orphanage during the Great Depression.

Later, orphan Annie, then aged 11, is plucked from the orphanage by Grace Farrell, secretary to wealthy industrialist, Oliver ‘Daddy’ Warbucks.

The idea is for her to spend Christmas with the magnate as a PR stunt to help soften his hard public image.

The show’s director, Valarie Ball, said: “Rehearsals are going brilliantly for Kingsley Players' forthcoming production of Annie.

"We have a great cast of adults, 11 amazing orphans, and one wonderful Annie, who are all working really hard getting ready to captivate everyone in February.”

Shows start at 7pm, with an additional matinee performance at 2pm on Saturday, February 8.

Tickets cost £12, with £8 tickets available for students and children, which can be booked online, or by ringing the box office on 07724 892154.

Kingsley Players Youth Theatre is kindly sponsored by Forrester’s Farm Shop.
