Tell me a bit about your salon/business
Savor is all about inclusivity and professionalism. Our salon is relatively new. We only opened our doors post pandemic, just after the third lockdown. When we started developing the salon one thing that has always stuck with us is people saying how intimidating it can be to walk into a new hair and beauty salon. With this is mind, our main focus was to create an approachable and comfortable environment. When you walk into our salon you are greeted by friendly faces - everybody is welcoming. We wanted to keep this as the main factor but also with professionalism and a very high standard of hairdressing. We work alongside REDKEN, a world-renowned brand that is a pioneer in the industry. We regularly attend training courses and obtain qualifications to ensure that our knowledge is to the highest standard.
What do you do? What services do you provide?
We are a family friendly hairdresser that specialise in all things hair. We offer all modern colour services, cutting techniques and treatments. We are balayage and creative colour specialists and we offer bridal and event hair.
Why did you decide to open your own salon?
We decided, having been in the industry collectively for 26 years and working together for most of our hairdressing career, that it just made sense for us to move onto this. It’s something that has always been a goal of ours. We felt that we could offer something different in the industry and that it would be a place for us to channel our creativity. So far, we couldn’t have asked for a better outcome. We feel so lucky to have the love and support from our family, friends and clients - without them Savor wouldn’t be what it is today.
What’s your business background?
This is a first for us and we have gained a lot of knowledge along the way. We both collectively have a lot of years of experience within the industry which has helped us to make our business what it is today.
Why this type of business?
Hair is something that we have both always been passionate about, so it was natural for us to take this next step
Were you open before/during/after the Covid-19 pandemic? How did this affect your business?
We opened just after the third lockdown, which was obviously a worry for us as the country was in uncertain times. But we felt it was the right time for us to be able to do something that we have always dreamed of.
What makes your business different to others in the same area/field? What sets your business apart from your competitors?
We have worked with and alongside amazing hairdressers, that have shaped us into the hairdressers that we are today. The hairdressing industry is constantly evolving and new techniques and trends are constantly changing. We invest a lot of time and effort into developing our knowledge and skills so that we can offer the client the best of our ability and we feel that’s what makes us stand out. Our clients aren’t just clients they are our friends and one of our favourite things is building relationships with people. And you know what they say, hairdressers make good therapists! Since we opened our doors, we have been blown away by the amount of support we have had from other salons and businesses in the town. Our ethos is to boost local business and support each other.
Why do loyal clients return to your business?
Client relationships are so important to us. We feel that we can do our job better when we build relationships with people, as you get to know what that person really loves and doesn’t love. We are always honest with our clients - if we think something isn’t going to suit you then we are going to tell you. But we will also offer our professional advice and a plan in place to achieve your dream hair.
What’s next? What do the next few months hold for you and your salon?
We have got a lot of exciting things in the pipeline for 2025. Our team is constantly growing and evolving. Our main focus this year is investing into our team and expanding our skills so we can continue to provide the best possible service to our clients.
