NUNCHUCKS were found at the scene of an attack in Winsford.

Andre Travis has been handed a suspended prison sentence after admitting to assault occasioning actual bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

On March 4, police were called to Fairoak Close amid reports that Travis was threatening the residents of a property and refusing to leave.

The 44-year-old then broke in and headbutted one of the occupants, who had to be taken to hospital.

He left behind a pair of nunchucks and was later arrested by police.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: “At 6.10pm on Monday, March 4, police received 999 reports that Travis was threatening the occupants of an address on Fairoak Close, Winsford, and was refusing to leave.

“Officers were deployed to the scene and while on-route Travis forced entry into the address and assaulted one of the occupants, a 27-year-old man, by headbutting him.

“The assault caused an eye injury which was subsequently glued at hospital.

“Travis then left the property, leaving behind a pair of black nunchucks.

“He was later located and arrested in relation to the incident.”

Travis, of The Maples in Winsford, was sentenced at Chester Crown Court on Monday (November 4).

Judge Steven Everett handed him a 10-month prison sentence, suspended for one year.

He also issued an indefinite restraining order, banning Travis from contacting the victim by any means and from attending a specified address.

Travis must also forfeit the nunchucks to be destroyed and pay a surcharge of £187.
