A NORTHWICH man has been jailed after being found with a kitchen knife in a public place.
Kian Horton, of Wade Crescent, Barnton, appeared at Warrington Magistrates Court on September 30 charged with possessing a blade in a public place.
The 19-year-old had the kitchen knife in his possession while he was in Rosebank Walk in Barnton on January 8 earlier this year.
Horton pleaded guilty to the offence and was jailed for a total of 22 weeks.
The court heard a custodial sentence was considered due to the seriousness of the offence, which was Horton's third of a similar nature.
Magistrates also cited the defendant's breach of a previous court order and the risk of danger to the public as further justification for custody.
An order was also made for the forfeiture and destruction of the knife.
