SEVERAL motorists have been banned from the roads after admitting to either drink-driving or refusing to provide a sample.
Kerry O’Brien, Akbar Basha, Declan Lamb, Chauni Porter, and Martin Evans, are all facing extended periods off the road after appearances before Crewe or Chester magistrates.
On August 12, Martin Evans, of Alan Street, Northwich, pleaded guilty to failing to stop for police and failing to provide a sample of breath.
The 45-year-old was driving a BMW on Marston Lane on March 15, which he failed to stop when asked by a police officer in uniform.
He also refused to provide a sample for drug and alcohol testing on March 16.
On September 10 at Chester, magistrates sentenced him to a 12-month community order, banned him from driving for 20 months, and gave him a £120 fine.
He must also attend a six-month alcohol treatment programme, pay £450 court costs, and a £120 surcharge.
Kerry O’Brien, of Ludlow Close, Winsford, was also sentenced on September 10, at Crewe, after drink-driving on the A556 in Tabley on August 11.
When breathalysed, the Audi A3 driver had 75 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.
The 51-year-old was banned for 20 months, fined £576, and ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £230 victim surcharge.
Akbar Basha, of Nunsmere Country House Hotel in Oakmere, was stopped driving a BMW on August 10.
The 32-year-old blew 40 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath, and pleaded guilty to drink-driving at Crewe on September 10.
He was banned from the roads for 12 months and fined £311, as well as £110 prosecution costs, and a £124 victim surcharge.
Declan Lamb, or Fir Grove, Weaverham, also pleaded guilty on September 10 to one drink-driving offence before Crewe magistrates.
The 20-year-old was busted on Beach Road in Hartford on August 10, where he blew 56 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath.
He was banned for 16 months, as well as fined £144, and £143 combined costs and charges.
On September 9, Chauni Porter, of Romanes Street, Northwich, admitted drink-driving before Crewe magistrates.
The 29-year-old blew 57 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath after being pulled over in a Peugeot 207 on Romanes Street.
In addition to being disqualified for 16 months and fined £369, Porter was ordered to pay £85 court costs and £148 victim surcharge.
All five were given the opportunity to reduce their driving bans by 10 per cent if they satisfactorily complete a drink-driving awareness course.
