EACH week, the courts in Cheshire deal with dozens of motorists in the dock for driving offences.
These can include drink and drug-driving, driving while disqualified, dangerous driving, and driving without insurance to name a few.
Here we have rounded up some of the irresponsible motorists handed driving bans over the last week by the courts.
Alan Jackson, of Chapel Court, Northwich, was caught behind the wheel in London Road, Leftwich, on January 8 earlier this year, after taking cannabis.
The 47-year-old was found to have 5.8µg/L of Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) - a component of cannabis - in his system, exceeding the 2µg/L limit.
Jackson changed his plea to guilty on July 16 and appeared at Chester Magistrates Court on August 20 for sentencing.
He was charged with drug-driving, driving otherwise in accordance with a licence, driving without insurance and possession of cannabis, a class B drug.
Magistrates handed him a 12-month community order, in which he must complete 140 hours of unpaid work, and banned him from driving for two years.
Jackson must also pay £400 in costs as well as a £114 surcharge, while the drugs will be forfeited and destroyed.
Also appearing before Chester magistrates on August 20 was Grace Healing, of Crowmere Close, Cuddington.
The 34-year-old admitted drug-driving on June 2 in Leicester Street, Northwich. She was found to have 7µg/L of Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in her blood.
The bench disqualified her from driving for 12 months and fined her £80. She must also pay £85 in costs and a £32 surcharge.
Teenager Zachary Billinge, of Redwing Street, Winsford, also admitted drug-driving at Chester Magistrates Court on August 20.
The 19-year-old was caught in Chester Road, Hartford, on May 25 after having taken cocaine.
A blood test revealed Billinge had 305µg/L of Benzoylecgonine and 32µg/L of cocaine in his system. The legal limits for these drugs are 50µg/L and 10µg/L respectively.
He was fined £392 and disqualified from driving for 12 months. Billinge must also pay costs of £85 and a £157 surcharge.
Elsewhere, John Illidge, of Sandbach Drive, Northwich, appeared at Crewe Magistrates Court on August 22 charged with drink-driving.
The court heard the 77-year-old had been driving in Abbey Place, Hartford, when he was caught on May 30.
Illidge was found to have 109mg of alcohol in 100ml of his blood. The legal limit is 80mg.
He pleaded guilty and was banned from driving for 12 months. Magistrates also fined him £448 and ordered him to pay costs of £85 and a £179 surcharge.
On the same day, Shane Evans, of Booth Lane, Middlewich, also appeared before the bench at Crewe.
The 26-year-old pleaded guilty to drug-driving and driving otherwise in accordance with a licence.
Evans was found to have 6.8µg/L of Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in his blood when he was caught in Nun House Drive, Winsford, on May 23.
Magistrates fined him £120 and handed him a 12-month disqualification. He was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £48 surcharge.
Finally Thomas Green appeared at Crewe Magistrates Court on August 21 charged with driving while disqualified and without insurance.
The charges relate to an incident on June 17 when Green was caught in Alton Street, Crewe.
The 21-year-old, of Manor Crescent, Middlewich, admitted both charges at a hearing on July 29.
He was handed a 12-month community order requiring him to complete 200 hours of unpaid work.
Magistrates also handed him a further 13-month ban and ordered him to pay costs of £85 and a £114 surcharge.
