A NORTHWICH man has been banned from the roads after being caught behind the wheel while on drugs.
Steven Lockett, of Needham Drive, Hartford, was travelling along London Road in Warrington when he was stopped on July 12 last year.
A subsequent blood test revealed the 60-year-old has 2.3µg/L of Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol ( a component of cannabis) in his system, exceeding the legal limit of 2µg/L.
Despite initially denying drug-driving, Lockett changed his plea to guilty when he appeared at Warrington Magistrates Court on June 21.
Taking his late admission into account, the bench disqualified him from driving for 12 months and fined him £180.
Lockett was also ordered to pay court costs of £350 to the Crown Prosecution Service as well as a £72 surcharge.
He was given until July 31 to pay his total £602 court bill.
