POLICE have seized a suspected stolen car after children were spotted clinging to the roof of a speeding BMW.
Officers received reports a car was being driven up and down Rilshaw Lane, in Winsford, on Monday night (June 17) with children on the roof.
After they arrived at the scene at around 9.45pm, the driver fled in another car, leaving two women in the back of the BMW.
A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: “This vehicle was reported to police twice on Monday evening in the Winsford area.
“Both reports said persons were clinging onto the roof as it travelled at speed.
“Abhorrent behaviour. I think even the driver thought so as he decided he didn't want to stick around leaving his female passengers behind.
“Vehicle seized as suspected stolen which should prevent harm coming to anybody.”
The car was seized by police and enquiries are now ongoing to locate the driver.
