A WINSFORD biker has been banned from the roads for more than a year after riding while on cannabis.
Samuel O'Connell, of Moors Lane, Darnhall, was riding a Yamaha 125cc motorbike along Brooks Lane in Middlewich when he was caught on October 29 last year.
A subsequent blood test revealed the 23-year-old had 5µg/L of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (a component of cannabis) in his system, more than twice the legal limit of 2µg/L.
O'Connell appeared at Crewe Magistrates Court on June 4, where he pleaded guilty to a charge of drug-driving.
Taking his plea into account, the bench handed him a 14-month obligatory disqualification and fined him £200.
The magistrates also ordered O'Connell to pay court costs of £85 and an additional £80 surcharge.
