A NORTHWICH man has been banned from the roads after being caught more than three times the drink-drive limit.

Carl Jeffries, of no fixed abode in the town, was driving a Volkswagen Polo along Albion Road when he was caught on March 31 earlier this year.

A breath test revealed the 47-year-old had 115 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of his breath, exceeding the limit of 35.

Jeffries appeared at Chester Magistrates Court on May 22 to be sentenced after he admitted drink-driving at a hearing on April 23.

Taking his guilty plea into account, magistrates disqualified him from driving for 28 months, starting from the date his interim ban was imposed when he pleaded guilty.

Fining him £100, the bench also made him subject to a 12-month community order, in which Jeffries must complete six months of alcohol treatment.

He must also complete up to 15 days of rehabilitation activity. Jeffries must also pay £85 in courts as well as a £114 surcharge.
