DRIVERS are being warn of disruption ahead of multiple major road closures in Northwich.

Sections of Chester Road in Cuddington, Sandiway, Oakmere, and Hartford is set to close while ‘major’ resurfacing work takes place.

For periods when the Cuddington section is closed, drivers are being as asked to take an alternative route via central Winsford.

The programme begins on Thursday, May 23, on the Hartford section of the road, and will finish on Thursday, June 10, when the Cuddington section is complete.

Sections will we closed and reopened in phases on a rolling programme to create minimal disruption while task such as resurfacing, sealing, and repainting road marking are completed.

Closures on the various sections will be in place between 9am and 3.30pm, and 6pm to 8pm.

While actual times and dates may vary depending on weather conditions, the following schedule for the works has been published by Cheshire West and Chester Council (CWAC):

A556 Chester Road, Cuddington and Sandiway: May 28 to June 1, and June 6 and 7.

A556 Chester Road, Oakmere: May 29 to June 2, and June 10.

A559 Chester Road, Hartford: May 23 to 28; May 30 to June 1; June 3 to June 6.

Drivers are being warned to make sure no vehicles are parked on the road when work is scheduled.

CWAC say vehicle access for vehicles and businesses will be maintained as much as possible, but there may be times when it is withdrawn for short periods.

Those needed emergency access to their vehicles should park it outside the works area.

A spokesman for CWAC said: “We appreciate this work will cause some disruption, and vulnerable residents, such as those expecting essential deliveries, are urged to contact Cheshire West Highways.

“This treatment is a three-phase road maintenance programme which involves preparation, and laying a thin layer over the top of the existing surface to seal it.

“During the works, a road closure will be in force to ensure the safety of both the public and the workforce.

“Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.”
