A BRAWL outside a Winsford pub left three people injured.

Police and paramedics rushed to the Queen’s Arms, on Dene Drive, at 7.20pm on Saturday, May 11.

There were reports a man had been knocked unconscious and that bottles were being used as weapons.

A man was spotted fleeing the scene by officers as they arrived and was pursued on foot.

He was caught by a special constable after being threatened with a Taser, then arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

This was later changed to the lesser offence of causing actual bodily harm and the 25-year-old was released on bail.

Paramedics treated three people at the scene, but none were taken to hospital.

A Cheshire Police spokesman said: “At 7.20pm on Saturday, May 11, police were called to reports of an incident at a public house on Dene Drive, Winsford.

“Officers attended the scene and found there had been an altercation between a group of people outside the premises.

“Three people were injured as a result of the incident. They were treated by paramedics at the scene but did not require hospital treatment.

“A 25-year-old local man was arrested nearby in relation to the incident.

"The man was initially on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, however, this has since changed to actual bodily harm. He has seen been released on bail pending further enquiries.”

A spokesman for Cheshire Police Special Constabulary said: “The team responded to reports of a large fight outside a pub in Winsford alongside regular colleagues.

“We had reports of glass bottles being used and a male being knocked unconscious.

"On arrival a male was running away from the location. He refused to stop at first and we were not sure if he had anything still on him which could cause harm to officers or others.

“After a short foot chase, an officer alerted him he was Taser trained and commanded him to stop.

“This immediately got the male to stop and comply until back up arrived. Taser was not deployed, but the presence of it alone was effective in keeping everyone safe.”

Anyone with any information in relation to the incident is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting IML 1821167.
