A WINSFORD woman who sent threatening emails to Cheshire Police has been sentenced.

Emma Clarke, of Sycamore Avenue, has been handed a conditional discharge.

It comes after the 41-year-old sent two emails to Northwich-based response officer PC Lythgoe on February 3.

The emails included threats towards a named person, who police have confirmed is not an officer.

Police attended her address and arrested her in connection with the emails.

She was subsequently charged with sending an electronic communication which conveyed a threat for the purpose of causing distress or anxiety.

Clarke pleaded guilty at Chester Magistrates on March 5 and returned on April 26 for the sentencing.

District Judge John McGarva ordered Clarke to pay £120 in costs and handed her a conditional discharge.

This means that if Clarke commits any other crimes within the next 12 months, she can be sentenced for the initial offence and the new one.
