TWO cars have been stolen during a late-night break-in.

Cheshire Police are investigating after receiving reports of a burglary in Middlewich.

At 2.13am on Thursday (April 4), unknown offenders broke into a property on Dexter Way and stole the keys to two vehicles before fleeing the scene with the cars, a white Ford Fiesta and a blue Audi A3.

Officers are now urging residents to take care and consider additional security measures.

A spokesperson for the force said: “Incidents of this nature are quite rare in the Middlewich area and while there have been no reports of any similar incidents, however, it does pay to be aware and put measures in place.”

Police have advised people to consider installing CCTV or Ring doorbells outside their properties while making sure valuables are not left inside vehicles, or are at the very least hidden out of sight.

Lighting is also a good deterrent and is recommended at doors and garages as it makes it safer when coming and going after dark.

Police have also recommended installing an accredited burglar alarm system with audible alarm boxes, both at the front and rear of properties.

Investigations into the Middlewich burglary are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact Cheshire Police by calling 101 or visiting www.cheshire.police.uk/tell-us and quoting IML 1792467.

Information can also be reported anonymously to Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111 or via the Crimestoppers website.
