CHRISTIANS in Middlewich are ‘shining a light’ on Parkinson’s by turning the town’s official parish church blue.

On Thursday, April 11, St Michael and All Angels Church, in Hightown, will be bathed in blue light as the community shows its support for people living with the disease on World Parkinson’s Day.

The condition is a reality for St Michael’s parishioners as choir member, Nicky Parsons, has been living with Parkinson’s since 2020.

Rector, Rev’d Simon Drew, said: “It is a great joy to have Nicky as part of our church family and singing in our choir.

“It's through her we recognise the importance of raising awareness of Parkinson's within our community, and we're delighted offer our support in her work to achieve this.”

Caroline Rassell, chief executive at Parkinson’s UK, said: “We’re delighted Nicky and St Michael's will be showing their support and inspiring other by shining a light this World Parkinson’s Day.

“People are impacted by the reality of Parkinson’s every single day, but on April 11, we celebrate our brilliant community when we come together to make everything blue.

“However you choose to mark World Parkinson’s Day, you’ll be part of an unstoppable movement raise awareness of living with Parkinson's, helping us to fund more groundbreaking research and life-changing care.
