FIREFIGHTERS were called out to tackle a blaze in a tyre garage in Winsford.

Fire engines from Winsford, Northwich, Middlewich, and Holmes Chapel, rushed to Protyre Garage on Wharton Road at 1.08am on Wednesday, March 6.

Wharton Road was closed for around four hours while fire crews tackled the blaze, which saw them use the area platform, dispatched from Chester.

A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Four fire crews and the area platform from Chester were called to a brick built commercial building on Wharton Road at 1.08pm this morning (March 6).

“Wharton Road was closed to make room for the equipment, and fire crews were in attendance for approximately four hours.

“An investigation into the cause of the fire will be carried out.”
