PLANS have been submitted for an apartment block and bungalows on a Crewe site which was formerly home to the Afford car hire and van rental company.

The Issa Group has applied for permission to build a two-storey apartment block of 10 flats and a pair of semi-detached bungalows to be used as a specialised supported housing scheme.

A design and access statement submitted by NC Architecture on behalf of the applicant states: “The proposal is for 10 flats plus two bungalows.

“This is likely to be a mix of dual diagnosis and complex needs in the bungalows and ground floor flats plus the potential for a more moderate cohort in the first floor flats.

“The design of the bungalows are likely to be bespoke to enable options for very complex cases who may struggle to live directly with others in the same building.”

The document states there will be staff working on a one-to-one basis at the Wistaston Road site and possibly two-to-one for some residents at the premises.

“There will be staff at the premises every day, therefore staff respite facilities have been included in the plans,” says the design and access statement.

The site is split over two levels.

The lower site is accessed via Wistaston Road and the upper area off Lewis Street.

The scheme includes 10 parking bays and storage for seven bikes across the site.

The application, number 24/0258N, can be viewed on the planning portal on the Cheshire East Council website.

The last date for submitting comments is March 6 and the application is due to be determined by a planning officer under delegated authority.
