A NORTHWICH man has been banned from the roads after getting behind the wheel while on cocaine.

Gregory Pickering, of Standford Drive, Leftwich, was driving a Suzuki Baleno in Wharton Road, Winsford, on June 23 last year when he was caught.

A subsequent blood test revealed the 47-year-old had 32µg/L of cocaine in his system - more than three times the legal limit of 10µg/L.

Pickering was arrested and charged with drug-driving, which he pleaded guilty to when he appeared at Crewe Magistrates Court on January 23.

Taking this plea into account, magistrates disqualified him from driving for 12 months and fined him £120.

On top of the fine, the bench ordered Pickering to pay court courts of a further £120 and a surcharge of £48.
