DO you know an inspirational teacher, police officer, or care worker in Winsford who always goes the extra mile for the people they serve?

Or maybe your life's been touched by a wonderful neighbour or young person who's never had the recognition they deserve.

If so, now is the time to nominate them for a Winsford Town Mayor’s Oscar 2024.

Held on Saturday, April 13 at Meadow Bank Social Club, it's a chance for residents to honour the people and groups who do the most to make Winsford a fantastic place to live.

The town council is asking residents to submit their nominations by Monday, March 18, when an independent judging panel will draw up a shortlist in each of the ten categories.

On the evening itself, representative of the sponsoring organisations will be opening the glitzy golden envelopes on stage and presenting the awards to the deserving winners in each category.

Cllr Welch said: “There are so many fantastic people in Winsford doing lots of good things within the community.

“They're helping each other to achieve a better quality of life, which creates the kind of really special bonds we all need to help us flourish together as a town.

“We should never miss an opportunity to shine a light on all this excellent work, and holding the Town Mayor's Oscars each year is great way to do it, and to celebrate the town's achievements at the same time.”

This year’s categories are:

Volunteer of the Year

Teacher of the Year

Community Group of the Year

Carer of the Year

Uniformed Services Worker of the Year

Young Person of the Year

Neighbour of the Year

The Golden Award (for outstanding achievement, or for a golden anniversary)

The Mayor’s Award

The Walk of Contribution Award (for the overall winner)

Cllr Welch added: “I'd personally like to say a huge thank you to everybody who's worked so hard to make Winsford a better place this year.”
