A WINSFORD man has been banned from owning dogs for a year after causing unnecessary suffering to a pet.
Karl Jenkins, of Regents Way, appeared at Chester Magistrates Court on January 12 charged with an offence under the Animal Welfare Act.
The court heard the 48-year-old had failed to act on October 16, 2022, when he didn't take Buddy, a Bull Lurcher, to see a vet for treatment, causing him to suffer.
Jenkins pleaded guilty to the offence, with magistrates taking this into account as they imposed a community order.
The bench ordered Jenkins to complete 120 hours of unpaid work, to be completed within 12 months.
Magistrates also disqualified him from owning and keeping dogs, as well has being able to control or influence how they are kept.
Jenkins was also ordered to pay court costs of £120 and a surcharge of £114.
