A SWIM school has launched a water safety tour around Northwich teaching youngsters a vital lesson.

Puddle Ducks Mid Cheshire, whose instructors teach children to swim at Barons Quay, will be visiting schools and nurseries in the town this winter.

Covering a range of topics including the dangers of frozen water, the team is hoping to raise awareness of the increased risks present during the winter months.

The team will be engaging with youngsters to keep them informed of normal safety rules in and around water, with an added focus on ice and snow on bodies of water such as lakes and rivers.

The manager at Puddle Ducks Mid Cheshire, Rachel Bateson, said: "At Puddle Ducks we believe it’s important to give back to the community.

"And what better way to do that than providing local schools and nurseries with the vital information to stay safe around water during winter.

"By working together with local schools and nurseries, we can do our bit to educate children from a young age to ensure they are well-informed about safe water practices."

The tour is the latest in a series of water safety initiatives the swim school provide.

The swim school has also just finished its annual ‘PJ Week’ which sees children learn water safety skills in their pyjamas.
