A NORTHWICH man has been arrested after a mobility scooter rider was killed in a crash near a supermarket.
Emergency services were called to the scene near Lidl in Chester Way at around 6.35pm earlier this evening following the collision between a white Hyundai IX20 and a mobility scooter.
The mobility scooter rider - a 38-year-old man from Liverpool - sadly died at the scene.
The Hyundai driver, aged 53, was taken into custody on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.
Police have launched an investigation into the collision and officers are appealing for witnesses to get in touch.
A Cheshire Police spokeswoman said: "The driver's next of kin have been informed and they are currently being supported by specialist officers.
"Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and officers are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or anyone who believes they have any dashcam footage of the incident."
