AN inquest has been opened into the death of a woman whose body was found in a Middlewich pub after a missing person search.
Emma Leigh, a resident of Heyhurst Avenue in the town, was 50 at the time of her death.
The inquest was opened by senior coroner for Cheshire Jacqueline Devonish, and the court heard that Emma was found in a room at the Newton Brewery Inn, at in Webb's Lane.
Emma was found on November 23, following a report made to Cheshire Police of a concern for her welfare.
A Cheshire Police spokesperson confirmed the force was made aware of Emma Leigh as a missing person at 10.20pm on November 22, and searched for her throughout the night.
Officers discovered that she was staying in a room at the Newton Brewery Inn.
The court heard that entry into the room required force, and when officers made their way inside, Emma was confirmed to be deceased.
This inquest was opened at Cheshire Coroner's Court in Warrington on Wednesday, December 6 - the full inquest was adjourned, and will be heard on April 24, 2024.
