A SUSPECTED drug dealer has been arrested after verbally abusing police officers.

Winsford BEAT officers arrested an 18-year-old man who was seen acting suspiciously on an electric bike on Glebe Green Drive.

Police say the man initially refused to engage with the officers and 'hurled verbal abuse' at one of them, shortly before 4pm on Tuesday (November 28).

However, while doing this, another officer snuck up behind him and detained him.

He was subsequently found to be in possession of several bags of cannabis along with 14 packets of edible cannabis, two mobile phones and cash.

A spokesperson for Winsford Police said: “During routine patrols, Winsford BEAT officers saw a young male on an electric bike acting suspiciously on Glebe Green Drive.

“The male decided to hurl verbal abuse at one of the officers.

“Unfortunately for him, while he was doing this, another officer had chance to sneak up behind him and detain him for a search.”

The 18-year-old, from Winsford, was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of drugs with intent to supply them.

Following questioning he was released on bail until April 28, 2024.
