BURGLARS have smashed through the front window of a Co-op store and made off with a large amount of cash in a late-night raid.

Police are investigating the incident, which took place at the Cheshire Avenue store in Lostock Gralam at around 11.15pm on Monday, November 27.

Two offenders, both believed to be men, were seen approaching the shop on foot from the direction of Manchester Road.

Once inside, the pair forced the tills open and swiped a large quantity of cash in just four minutes.

The offenders, one of whom was wearing a parka-style coat, had left the store by 11.19pm and are believed to have got into a vehicle parked nearby.

Detectives are now appealing for any witnesses or anyone with CCTV, Ring doorbell or dashcam footage to get in touch.

Detective Constable Claire Heatley, of the Northwich Proactive Policing team, said: “Enquiries in relation to this incident are in the early stages and we are doing all we can to identify the people responsible.

“As part of our investigation I’m keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and believes that they may have seen anything suspicious.

“I’d also ask residents in the Manchester Road and Cheshire Avenue areas to check their CCTV or video doorbell footage to see if they have anything which may aid our investigation.

“The same goes for any motorists with any dashcam footage.”
