A MAN jailed for harassing women is among the motorists who have been banned from the roads this week after being caught over the drink limit.

Barry Hooks, of Well Street, Winsford, appeared at Crewe Magistrates Court on November 21 where he pleaded guilty to drink-driving.

The 53-year-old, who was jailed for 20 weeks on August 9, had been riding a motorbike through the town on May 28 when he was stopped earlier this year.

A blood test revealed he had 197mg in 100ml of his blood, which is more than twice the limit of 80mg.

Considering his plea, magistrates disqualified Hooks from driving for 22 months and fined him £120. He must also pay £120 in court costs.

Also appearing at Crewe on Tuesday was Julian Beavan, of Back Lane, Arley, who was caught on November 1 at the Arley Road and Stretton Road crossroads in Appleton Thorn.

The 76-year-old was found to have 90μg/l of alcohol in 100ml of his breath, exceeding the limit of 35μg/l.

After he pleading guilty to drink-driving, magistrates banned Beavan from driving for 23 months and fined him £833.

He must also pay court costs of £120 and a surcharge of £333, taking his total court bill to £1,286.

Elsewhere on Tuesday, at Chester Magistrates Court, Stephen Finney also pleaded guilty to drink-driving.

The 31-year-old, of Wade Crescent, Barnton, was caught on October 29 riding a motorbike on Winnington Road in Northwich while over the limit.

A breath test revealed he had 40μg/l of alcohol in 100ml of his breath.

Taking his plea into account, magistrates disqualified Finney for 12 months, fined him £120 and ordered him to pay a further £120 in court costs and a £48 surcharge.

Also appearing at Chester on Tuesday was Phillip Fox, of Grazier Road, Northwich, who was caught on October 26.

The 38-year-old was found to have 49μg/l of alcohol in 100ml of his breath after he was stopped in Artisan Way, Northwich.

The bench banned Fox from the roads for 12 months, fined him £800 and ordered him to pay costs of £120 and a £320 surcharge.

His total court bill is £1,240.
