A BUSINESS premises in Northwich town centre had to be evacuated after smoke was spotted pouring out of air conditioning unit.
Fire engines from Northwich and Winsford stations rushed to High Street at 8.58am this morning (November 23).
Firefighters evacuated the building while they tried to find the source of the smoke.
They managed to trace it to an air conditioning unit and a light fitting, which they say pointed to an electrical fault.
The crew stayed at the scene until electricians arrived to investigate the cause of the smoke properly.
A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Smoke was seen issuing from an air conditioning unit and a light fitting at a business premises in Northwich.
“The building was evacuated while firefighters assessed the situation.
“Faulty electrics was believed to be the cause and the crew stood by until electricians arrived.”
