NORTHWICH will be transformed into a winter wonderland this weekend.
The town will play host to its annual Christmas Extravaganza on Saturday (November 25).
Following a day full of festive activities, live performances and shopping, crowds will gather to count down as the lights are switched on, marking the start of the holiday season.
Mayor of Northwich, Cllr Jane Thomas, said: "Amidst the shimmering lights and festive cheer, the Northwich Christmas Extravaganza is set to dazzle once more.
“As mayor, I'm thrilled to be part of this grand celebration.
“This year promises to surpass all expectations, thanks to the collaborative efforts of our dedicated partners.
“Witnessing the bustling energy in the town centre over the weekend is truly remarkable.
“I truly believe that this light switch-on event is unparalleled in Cheshire.
“I eagerly anticipate welcoming everyone to this spectacular event, with hopes for fantastic weather throughout the weekend. Let the magic begin!"

The fun starts from 10am, when the ice rink once again opening its doors.
Across the town a range of free, family-friendly activities will be on offer, from Christmassy crazy golf to a performance by the Barnton Circus.
Visitors will also be able to enjoy the Sharlands fun fair and get some present shopping done early at the Christmas Market, with stalls selling sweet treats, clothing, and jewellery and more.
The event draws to a close with the traditional Lantern Parade, setting off from Waitrose at 4.40pm.
Once the parade arrives into Barons Square at around 5pm, the countdown and light switch-on will take place ahead of a firework finale at 6pm.

Northwich BID chair, Ellis Wardle, added: “This year promises to be an inclusive event for everyone, with our activities once again including BSL interpretation of the Story Time activities and a dedicated SEND session on the Ice Rink.
“The light switch-on event will also have a live BSL interpreter.
“In addition many of our town centre businesses will be ‘dressing to impress’ in the hotly contested ‘Christmas Window’ competition.
“Residents can vote for the favourite window display on the Visit Northwich socials from December 1.”
