“He has since been charged with dangerous driving, using a cloned number plate and driving without insurance.

“He was remanded in custody to appear at Chester Magistrates’ Court this morning, Friday November 10.

“The charges relate to an incident where police stopped a vehicle near to junction 20 of the M6 northbound on Wednesday, November 8.

Following the incident, inspector Anton Sullivan, of Cheshire Police’s Roads and Crime Unit, said: “While we appreciate the disruption caused by this incident, the actions taken by officers were commendable.

“The danger posed to other innocent motorists was unthinkable, but thanks to the great work of the team, we were able to bring the incident to a safe conclusion.”

Three lanes are closed and very slow traffic was reported on the northbound carriageway at the time, with congestion stretching back past junction 19 for Northwich and Knutsford at Tabley.

The footage was uploaded to TikTok by user @chris_thefella and so far has amassed more than four million views, as well as in excess of 100,000 likes.
