AN uninsured driver has been banned from the roads after being caught behind the wheel while over the alcohol limit.
Ethan Mercer, of Summerfield Drive, Moulton, was travelling along Weaver Way, Northwich, on October 7 last month when he was caught.
The 28-year-old, who was in a Ford Focus he didn't have insurance to drive, was subsequently given a breath test.
The test revealed he had 50 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of his breath, above the legal limit of 35.
Appearing at Chester Magistrates Court on October 27, Mercer pleaded guilty to drink-driving and driving without insurance.
Taking his pleas into account, the bench disqualified him from driving for 14 months and fined him £140.
Mercer was also ordered to pay £120 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service and a £56 surcharge.
