CHILDREN, parents and staff at Northwich primary school have raised a whopping £1,000 to help those battling cancer.

On Friday, October 6, Hartford Primary School held a special Coffee Afternoon in aid of the Macmillan Cancer Support charity.

Organised by year one teacher Jo Dodd, parents, PTA volunteers and year six children prepared a whopping number of homemade cakes to sell.

A spokeswoman for the Riddings Lane primary school said: "Parents, children and staff baked lots of delicious cakes for a wonderful organisation which has supported many of our families in our school community."

The money raised by the school's Macmillan Coffee Afternoon go towards helping many living with cancer to live life as fully as they can.

According to Macmillan, the amount raised by Hartford Primary School could help 10 people affected by cancer attend a health and wellbeing event, which provides them with skills to improve the management of these areas in their lives.
