A 'GRAND old pub' in Weaverham which has been 'stuck in the past' is is getting a complete £285,000 revamp.

The Ring o' Bells, on Northwich Road, will have new carpets and upholstery, new seating, an extended dining area, new kitchen, a revamped sports bar with new lighting and flooring, and a comfy snug specially for group bookings.

It's also getting a full facelift outside with royal blue and white signage and lighting, new seating for 54, wall lanterns, festoon lights, and a characterful planting area to create ambience.

New landlord and lady, Kris and Katie Perrin, say the refurb will be done by mid-November in time for the Christmas festivities.

The couple won multiple awards at their previous pub in north Wales and took on the Ring o’ Bells on a temporary basis in November last year, but have now decided to run it permanently.

Kris, who’s originally from Tarporley, wants to restore it to its ‘former glory’, creating ‘a dog and family-friendly premium local offering great pub grub done to the highest standards’.

Kris, who grew up in Tarporley, said: “The moment we saw the pub, we knew it was for us.

“We’ll be living on site and we’re really looking forward to becoming involved in village life.

“We’re moving back to the area to be nearer our roots and to run a pub in a village with a real sense of community, which Weaverham certainly has.

“We love its history – the UK national bowls championship was once held on the bowling green – and 30 years ago, it really was the place to be.

“Sadly, the décor hasn’t changed since then. It’s a grand building stuck in the past.

“We’re delighted to be part of its top-to-toe regeneration and look forward to putting it back on the map locally.”

As well as ‘good food done well’, Kris says the revamped Ring o’ Bells will serve two cask-conditioned ales, a wide selection of premium lagers and craft kegs, premium spirits, cocktails, and wines.

For entertainment, the pub will show Sky & BT Sports in the sports room, and there’ll be darts and a pool table.

Tim Horner, business development manager for the building owner, Star Pubs & Bars, said: “We’re delighted licensees of Kris and Katie’s calibre are taking on the lease of the Ring o’ Bells in Weaverham.

“They are very well respected in the industry as their awards show.

“They have a passion for hospitality and great food and they love the pub and Weaverham. They’ll be a real asset to the community.

“I wish them and their customers all the very best.”
