A MOTORBIKE passenger has died following a crash near Northwich.

Cheshire Police has confirmed that a 54-year-old woman died after a crash on the A533 Northwich Road in Little Leigh.

The woman, who was from Runcorn, had been a passenger on a Benelli TRK motorbike when it collided with a Ford Transit flatbed tipper near the entrance of Dones View Farm shortly before 5pm on Friday (September 15).

Cheshire Police is now urging anyone with information or footage of what happened to come forward.

Inspector Steve Griffiths, of the Serious and Complex Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This was an incredibly tragic incident, and our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman who died.

“As part of our investigation, we are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.

“We are especially interested in speaking to the occupants of a red motor car which passed the motorcycle immediately prior to the collision who may have valuable information for the investigators.

“The same goes for anyone who has any dashcam or CCTV footage, that may help us determine how this incident occurred.

The 54-year-old woman was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.

Police confirmed at midday on Monday (September 18) that she had since died.

Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

The rider of the bike, a 53-year-old man from Runcorn, was also taken to hospital, with minor injuries, and has since been discharged.

The driver of the tipper, a 29-year-old man from Runcorn, was not injured.
