CHESHIRE West and Chester Council is working with Freedom Fibre to roll out a lightning-fast, full-fibre broadband network to homes and businesses across the borough.

Cllr Nathan Pardoe, Cabinet Member for Inclusive Economy, Regeneration and Digital Transformation, along with senior officers from the council, joined the Freedom Fibre team installing broadband in Northwich last week.

Over 25,000 homes and businesses in and around Ellesmere Port and Northwich are already able to connect to Freedom Fibre’s full-fibre network, with further communities being able to join in the near future.

Freedom Fibre has an ambitious plan to connect over two million homes across the North West, including many thousands more scheduled in Cheshire West and Chester over the coming weeks and months.

Businesses across the borough can now prepare for the future and join Freedom Fibre’s full-fibre network, enjoying speeds of up to 10Gbps.

Full-fibre high speed broadband is part of the council’s commitment to expanding digital inclusion, ensuring access to the internet for all through enhancing digital connectivity, infrastructure, equipment, and skills.

Cllr Nathan Pardoe, Cabinet Member for Inclusive Economy, Regeneration and Digital Transformation, said: “It was great to see first-hand the work that Freedom Fibre and council staff are doing engaging with communities and increasing connectivity across our borough.

"Full-fibre high-speed broadband is vital for people across our Borough to ensure they can stay connected to family, friends, leisure, entertainment, and work opportunities. It is also crucial for businesses to help with efficiency and productivity. The council want to make sure that we have the necessary infrastructure in all of our communities, especially those most in need, to help people to access high-speed broadband and the opportunities it brings.”

Tony Moore, chief delivery officer at Freedom Fibre, said: “We’re delighted that homes and businesses across Cheshire are already benefitting from our lightning-fast, full-fibre network, with many more set to be connected very soon. We look forward to further strengthening our relationship with Cheshire West and Chester Council and continuing our rollout across the county.”
