A POLICE dog has found a “high risk” missing person.
Cheshire Police was alerted to reports of concern for the welfare of a teenager in Northwich on Wednesday morning (September 6).
PD Toro of the Police Dog Unit was called in for support and ended up finding the 18-year-old man curled up in a hedge after tracking him for over a mile.
A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: “At around 8am on Wednesday September 6, police were called to reports of concerns for the welfare of a man in Northwich.
“Local officers, supported by the Police Dog unit, were deployed and conducted a search of the town.
“The 18-year-old man was later located safe and well in a wooded area near Crownest Lane, Northwich, at around 9.30pm and was returned to his home address by officers.”
A spokesperson for the dog unit added: “PD Toro was on hand last night to assist with the search for a high risk missing person in Northwich.
“Toro and handler tracked for over a mile from where the person was last seen and found him curled up deep in a hedgerow.
“He is now getting the support he needs.”
