A CHARITY shop is appealing for volunteers to help keep the store running.

The Barnardo's branch in Dingle Walk, Winsford, raises money for the charity which protects and supports children and young people in the UK.

But the shop only has a handful of volunteers to help out and is now hoping more people might like to give it a try.

Store manager Linda Capper said: "We’re after some volunteers to spend a couple of hours a week or as many hours as they can spare.

"We’re just grateful for anything at the moment, even if it’s just a couple of hours a month, if they can commit to something.

“We only have seven volunteers at the moment, but they can’t cover all hours. We have got days where there’s nobody there volunteering, so we could with somebody there, especially Fridays and Saturdays."

Anyone from the age of 14 or older is welcome to apply. Tasks including sorting through, tagging and hanging donations, keeping the shop clean and tidy as well as some till work if wanted.

Training is provided, as are kitchen and toilet facilities.

Linda added: "Our volunteers are amazing. We couldn’t survive without them. They’re absolutely amazing and if you could give them all awards, you would do.

"Nothing is too much trouble for the volunteers and they all work great as a team together. We have a mixture of ages, which is nice.

"We do say to our younger volunteers, it looks great on your CV when you leave school that you’ve actually given someone some of your time and you’re willing to try."

Anyone interested in applying is asked to contact Linda on 01606 592442.
