A SCHOOL has made changes to its uniform amid the ongoing mini-heatwave.

Weaverham High School has announced that pupils will not have to wear their usual school uniform for the remainder of this week.

The decision comes as temperatures in the Northwich area are once again expected to reach the mid-to-high-20s.

Students at Weaverham will instead be allowed to wear their PE kit on Thursday (September 7) and Friday (September 8).

An announcement on the school's Facebook page reads: "Given that the forecast for this week indicates the weather will remain very hot, we have taken the decision to allow pupils the option of wearing their full and correct Weaverham High School PE kit to school instead of their uniform on Thursday 7th and Friday 8th.

"In the event that pupils arrive in school with unacceptable modifications to their PE kit (i.e. different t-shirts, shorts etc) then those pupils will be expected to wear their usual uniform for the remainder of the week.

"Please can you encourage your child to bring a refillable water bottle to school and wear sunscreen."

It is expected to reach 26C in Weaverham on Thursday and then 27C on Friday.

These temperatures continue into the weekend with highs of 26C and 25C on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
