STAFF at Roberts Bakery have been evacuated as firefighters have been called to deal with a blaze at the site.
Four crews and the aerial ladder platform were called to the scene off School Road South in the Gadbrook Park industrial estate at 11.12am this morning.
The affected area has since been isolated as firefighters tackle the incident from height.
By 12.30pm, eight crews were in attendance at the scene, and this had increased to 12 by 1.30pm, plus two aerial ladder platforms and the fire service's high volume water pump.
No casulties are reported.
Road closures are in place on the A556 - with one lane of the westbound carriageway now open - while the fire is dealt and motorists are advised to expect delays in the area.
Nearby residents and businesses are advised to keep windows and doors shut.
The incident is described as a 'well-developed fire in a temporary roof structure' which has spread to the production area.
A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "Firefighters are in attendance at a fire in a commercial bakery in Northwich.
"The fire involves a ceiling joist and scaffolding boards within one of the site buildings, which measures 250 metres by 200 metres.
"An evacuation of staff has taken place and utilities to the affected area have been isolated.
"Crews are positioning an aerial ladder platform to provide water to the fire from height.
"There are road closures around the site so please expect travel disruption in the area.
"Nearby residents are advised to keep windows and doors closed as a precaution due to smoke from the fire.
A Cheshire Police spokesman added: "The A556 is currently closed westbound in Rudheath, due to an ongoing fire at a bakery at Gadbrook Park.
"Diversions are in place but motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible."
