A MAKEUP artist who works at a salon in Winsford is appearing on the popular TV programme Glow Up, with the hope of inspiring people to be themselves and feel represented.

Keiran Cox will be part of season five of Glow Up: Britain’s Next Makeup Star, a BBC Three show where makeup artists (MUAs) compete to see if they have the skills to go all the way in the makeup industry.

Keiran, 23, is originally from Northwich but now lives in Winsford and works at Guyz N Dollz in Rilshaw Lane.

The hairdresser and MUA explained: “I’d seen the application on Instagram and I’d wanted to apply for years because I love makeup and creative makeup.”

There was an audition process to go through, but Keiran was thrilled to be chosen to appear on the programme – which starts tonight, May 2, at 8pm.

Northwich Guardian:

“You should expect incredibly artistry from a variety of different makeup artists and people from different backgrounds,” Keiran said.

“They are all amazing, the people I have worked with have just got something about them, they’re just incredible.

“If you’re into art and love make up and beauty, this is for you.”

Talking about makeup styles and his hopes for the show, Keiran added: “In my work, I go for more glam looks.

Northwich Guardian:

“When I do things for myself, I go for a drag aesthetic-meets glam-meets a punk sort of vibe.

“I think people won’t expect some of the things I’m going to pull out of my sleeve in the show – I’m really excited.

“I also want to show queer representation in Cheshire.

“The programme is very inclusive and it shows all walks of life.

“Hopefully people of any age will see me in the show and be inspired to be themselves; love is the message.

“The real reason I went on it is not a selfish thing; I want people to see people like me and feel represented.”
