RESIDENTS are being warned of possible disruption around Winsford as work on the regeneration of the town centre begins.

Construction workers from Kier will be arriving on site in the coming weeks to put up hoardings prior to the imminent start of the project.

The £21m development will see some existing buildings demolished in Queen's Parade and Fountains Court before new business units and a public open spaces are created.

And ahead of work starting, members of the public are being warned to expect possible disruption to pedestrian access and routes around the town.

Signage is being installed to advise of alternative routes.

Cheshire West and Chester Council confirmed the small Dene Drive car park in the middle of the site will be closed, with drivers asked to use alternatives during the work.

All businesses in the town centre remain open as usual for people to visit.

Construction is due to be complete by the end of 2024.

Discount retailer B&M and coffee giants Costa have signed leases to open stores within the new development.

Negotiations are ongoing between council and existing tenants on extending their leases.

Whilst acknowledging the works will create some inconvenience, the council will provide regular updates regarding progress for the duration of the works so that people are aware of what is happening at the various stages of the project.
