TRAIN cancellations and delays are in place after damaged overhead power lines caused a railway line to become blocked.
Services between Wilmslow and Crewe have been affected, along with services from Alderley Edge, Chelford, Goostrey, Holmes Chapel, and Sandbach stations.
Northern Trains have warned passengers to expect cancellations and delays of up to half an hour, and apologised for any inconvenience caused.
A spokesman for Northern Trains said: “Due to damage to overhead electric wires between Wilmslow and Crewe, the line is blocked.
“Service running through these stations will be cancelled, or delayed by up to 30 minutes.
“We are sorry for any hassle caused by this.”
National Rail have said a rail replacement bus services will be leaving Alderley Edge, calling at all stations to Crewe, at 2.10pm, and another leaving Crewe, calling at all stations to Alderly Edge, at 2.30pm.
They have also warned passengers should expect distuption to continue through to the end of service.
Avanti West Coast tickets will be vaild at no extra cost on CrossCountry services between Manchester Piccadilly and Stafford, and London Northwestern services between Crewe and Stafford.
