HAPPY children at a Northwich primary school had a week of wellbeing to celebrate Children’s Mental Health Week.

The theme for the week at Delamere CE Academy was ‘Let’s Connect’ and everyone joined in with activities to promote healthy, rewarding, and meaningful connections.

They used exercise classes, drumming workshops, drama and relaxation sessions in support of charity Place2Be, which provides mental health counselling and training to schools.

Families were also invited to school for coffee and cake.

Head of School Julie Clayton said: “School life is so busy and can pass by in the blink of an eye, but we make a special effort during mental health week to focus our minds on what is really important to us, our relationships and our mental wellbeing.

“It’s been lovely to see the buzz around school.

“Enrichment is extremely important to us, and we are proud to offer our children many opportunities to try new things.”

In 2019, Delamere Academy became one of less than 20 schools in the UK to have been given a Wellbeing Award for Schools (WAS), which commends schools who make the welfare of pupils and staff a priority.
