A FIREFIGHTER from Cheshire has saved a woman after 17 hours of tunelling in Turkey.
Four firefighters from Cheshire have travelled to Turkey to aid in international efforts to help recover survivors following the terrible earthquake which hit Turkey and Syria last week.
Dan Reid, a firefighter from Penketh, was part of a team that spent almost a full day tunelling to reach a woman trapped under rubble.

After travelling out to help with efforts in Turkey following the earthquake, the four firefighters from Cheshire have been helping the UK International Search and Rescue Team (UKISAR) with their ongoing work.
The firefighters from Cheshire and their home stations are:
- Ian Wilson (Lymm)
- Dan Reid (Penketh)
- John Monaghan (Penketh)
- Andy Clarke (Chester)
The UKISAR team is 77 members strong made up of UK fire and rescue services. They arrived earlier this week, along with four specialist search and rescue dogs, to assist with search and rescue operations following the devastating earthquakes.
The team were deployed through the Foreign and Commonwealth Office who shared the video of Dan, following a request for assistance from the Republic of Türkiye, after it announced its highest level of state emergency.
The UKISAR are now actively undertaking search and rescue operations, providing specialist technical support and expertise where it is needed most.
